Chick-fil-a is Thankful for Social Media Today

Today is Chick-fil-a appreciation day, but unless you saw it on Facebook or Twitter you probably didn't know that. In light of all the controversy surrounding Chick-fil-a's values, their supporters rallied to show how much they appreciate the company.

I initially learned about this event on Facebook, as one of my friends "shared" it on their wall and it showed up in my News Feed. Since then, I've seen it several more times from other friends on Facebook and Twitter.

After learning about today, I would ask people around town if they're going to participate in "Chick-fil-a" day. Most people didn't know what I was talking about, and I attribute that to not seeing it on a social network. Meanwhile, everyone I know that is a friend on Facebook or follow me on Twitter knew about today's activities.

If you've followed me for any length of time, you know I'm a proponent of social media, and today solidifies my viewpoint. While traditional media and many blogs have been berating Chick-fil-a on their values and what they support, it seemed like finding supporters for Chick-fil-a was difficult or  few and far between.

Today's activity on Facebook and Twitter paints a very different picture, and it's clear there are many  people out there who love Chick-fil-a, appreciate their values and will make sure this company doesn't go anywhere for a while.
