A New Direction
Flowing water, given enough time and following the same path, can erode hundreds of feet of earth. Canyons and valleys form through this consistent process, but as time passes the river becomes less and less able to find another path.
When we have good habits, our consistency will pay off in the long run. But when we have poor habits, over time they become ingrained and difficult to change. Like the river flowing through a canyon, it would take extreme momentum to change direction.
A new routine or different trajectory is difficult to start. Day 1 is hard, day 2 even harder, but eventually a new path will form. You must fight the urge to fall back into the river bed already formed, but after a time the trench of good habits will emerge.
