As a child, I did my best to keep all toys in pristine order. No scratches, no imperfections, many times keeping the original packaging. It made for a nice collection, but meant I didn't use them to their full potential.
It's like a guitar that's never played or a car that sits in a garage, you can guarantee it will never be damaged, but that also means you've wasted its usefulness.
To use anything means risking its perfection, and risk is the only way to move forward. A life without risks, however small they may be, is to pass up all opportunity.
