Helpfulness Limit

image.jpg

When you’re the kind of person that enjoys helping others, it’s hard to know when enough is enough. Maybe it’s helping someone financially, giving wise counsel, or sharing knowledge, there needs to be a ceiling. A maximum amount of time and funds that are given freely.

That sounds stingy and uncaring, but you are just one person. You cannot personally meet the needs of every other person in your sphere of influence. There will always be enough people in need to consume all your income, but then what about your family?

If you let them, certain people will cling and demand more time and attention then you can provide. It may be awkward and difficult, but you have to set clear boundaries. Make your limits known, and abide by them.
