I'm Not Into Titles
Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist, isn't into titles despite being able to wield several impressive prefixes. Rather than try to summarize, here are his words exactly:
For some, the more abbreviations that come before their name impart some kind of influence or importance. They justify arguments and automatically trump those of lesser minds. But a degree or certification doesn't inherently truth-ify a point of view.
There are good ideas, and there are bad ideas. There are truths and there are opinions. No amount of degrees and study can make a lie the truth, or a bad idea good.
