I had the great opportunity last night to give a talk on how to use technology effectively. Small venue, decent crowd, and as usual I felt pretty nervous.
Before I spoke, several other presenters commented, “You don’t look nervous at all.” After the event the director said, “You must have given this talk many times.” (I hadn’t). As with theater in high school and musical performances in college, there were always nerves, but they didn’t have to hinder me.
There’s a difference between feigning confidence, and simply rehearsing to overcome nervousness. Over time you may become comfortable on stage or performing, but until that time, rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.
