Seek To Honor
In the workplace, there is always a temptation to create an us vs. them mentality. Those who “do the work” and the supervisors or managers who give the orders. Not only does that degrade the overall morale of a company, but it robs you of the gift of honoring leadership.
When you stay in the us vs. them culture, honoring those above you seems to betray your peers. It can also seem moot, as going the extra mile rarely turns into a raise or promotion.
Even if it’s unnoticed or seemingly ignored, put forth the energy to honor those in authority. Honor with respect, giving your work more than what’s required, and do things that benefit the company without boasting. Then, when you cross paths with those you once served, it will be a blessing and not a curse.
