The Challenge Of Mediating
One of the most difficult hats to wear as a leader is that of mediation. To stand in between two opposing forces and strive to leave the room with everyone shaking hands, that is truly a balancing act.
The difficulty comes in seeing a situation with an impartial perspective. We bring our past experiences, encounters, and people biases into the conversation subconsciously, but we need to intentionally set them aside.
Not only that, but understand that one or both parties will see you as "taking a side." To resolve any issue takes comprise, and to many, compromise feels like concession. Miscalculate the balancing act and you'll lose both sides.
