The Long Game
Do you remember getting your first paycheck? It seemed magical. You work for a time, and then you get paid real money to spend however you want. The initial reaction is to buy something you never thought you could afford. To blow it all at once.
Then a voice of reason, maybe your parents said, "you should save some of that." The difference between you and the voice of reason was foresight. Every day we make choices, some benefit us now, others we only see their affect months or years down the road.
You were told to save some of the check because someone wiser knew your car may need repairs, your clothes will wear out, you may want something even more expensive in the future. We can choose to play the short game, or the long game. Make good decisions to benefit our future self, our family's future, or take the temporary satisfaction now.
