When You Have To Be The Bad Guy

In a position of leadership, there will be times you have to say no. Maybe it's a time of correction or denying a request, but no matter the situation it can be difficult.

If you are able to give a reason or explanation, a no is easier to accept. Other times, you may not be able to offer a specific cause. The no will come without context, and that's even harder to take.

Enough "no's" and some will see you as a bad guy. The gatekeeper that denies more than he approves (whether or not that's true). You must be confident in your decisions, and go above and beyond to support your team regularly to overcome the no's.
